Call for Topics PDF Print E-mail
Written by Michael Kim

"The International Symposium (IS) 2011 Event Specific Planning Team (ESPT) is in the process of “Identifying” potential panel, papers and tutorial topics for the symposium in Denver (July 2011) and request your input.  Our apologies for the short notice, but we would like to get as much input as possible to influence the symposium agenda. Note - This is not a “Call” for papers, panels or tutorials.  It is an effort to get input from members regarding topics to include in the call for papers, panels, and tutorials.

Members are encouraged to recommend topics for consideration that address ways in which Systems Engineering principles, practices, tools and perspectives are applied and performed today or how  Systems Engineering may influence engineering and the society in the future. We also want to focus on topics that will garner industry interest in INCOSE within our region.

The ESPT will select topics based innovation, relevance and diversity covering Systems Engineering in traditional and nontraditional environments.

Not all suggested topics
will be included and final decision of selected topics will be the responsibility of the ESPT.
Please help influence the agenda by reviewing the attachment below and submitting suggested topics for papers, panels or tutorials to :

"Engineering of Complex Systems"

Background
The IEEE Systems Council facilitates interactions among communities of interest on system-level problems and applications. System-level thinking is essential in the world today, not only for technical systems but also for society at large. The Council addresses the discipline of systems engineering, including the issues and complexities of system-level and system-of-systems applications, focusing on the total systems effectiveness of complex integrated systems of national and global significance.

Conference Objectives
This conference seeks to create an interactive forum for the advancement of the practice of system design, development, and management, across the multiple disciplines and specialty areas associated with the engineering of systems. The conference will provide a venue for systems engineering practitioners, managers, researchers, and educators to exchange innovative concepts, ideas, applications, and lessons learned addressing:

  • Applications-oriented topics on large-scale systems and system-of-systems in topics noted above
  • Systems engineering, education, standards, processes and methodologies for the system-of-systems environment
  • Research opportunities and results relating to system-of-systems

Who Should Attend

As this conference addresses system-of-systems, systems engineering and systems of significant national and global impact, it will provide an informative, highly interactive and educational venue for systems engineering practitioners, managers, researchers, and educators to exchange valuable information and develop new synergies to address the complex issues and problems of complex systems and system-of-systems.

Join us in sharing your insights and work at IEEE International Systems Conference 2010 and help us answer the problem of Engineering Complex Systems. . . .

We invite you to submit, for consideration, your abstracts detailing your work related to the Engineering of Complex Systems. Mark your calendar now and plan to join us for excellent, quality presentations and networking with colleagues from military/government, industry, and academia.

Deploying the NASA SE Framework Speaker Meeting PDF Print E-mail
Written by INCOSE-LA

By Jorg Largent

P. A. “Trisha” Jansma spoke on the NASA Systems Engineering Framework and provided an informative and comprehensive insight into NASA’s pursuit of systems engineering. Trisha is the Lead for the NASA Systems Engineering Framework (SEF) Deployment Subgroup for the NASA Systems Engineering Working Group (SEWG) for the NASA Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE). She is also the Deployment Lead for the Systems Engineering Advancement (SEA) Project at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The presentation was comprehensive, and the time limits of the speaker meeting were not an impediment to the message that NASA is deeply invested in the systems engineering process.
